Clark & Kent have undertaken several projects for the charity Access Sport over several years. Access Sport acted alongside Harrow Council to procure a new large pump track and q two-person BMX training straights and start gate through public tender.
We were invited to tender for the project in 2019 and were selected for several reasons. Harrow Council place a big emphasis on health and safety, and C&K were chosen for three main reasons;
1. Three external National Health and safety accreditation which other suppliers didn't have. These are CHAS, Constructionline and Acclaim.
2. Nonotifiable incidents in our previous H&S record.
3. The robustness of our core contract H&S paperwork.
The ground was broken in spring 2020 with limited scope due to the coronavirus pandemic. C&K agreed to no uplifted costs and the original contract sum to restart works four weeks after the lockdown period with all provisional measures in place.
Initial consultation and a fully bespoke design package for funding and planning purposes were provided by C&K in house, minimising downtime and decreasing lead times. The project was a 10-week programme and included several restraints from working adjacent to a railway line, working around trees, and having restricted and sensitive access issues such as vehicles entering the site on a public open space footpath.
Relevant traffic management was used along with the correct PPI (People Plant Interface), and the project was completed on time, schedule and budget to the original contract sum.
