March Pump Track, Cambridgeshire

March Pump Track

The pump track in March, Cambridgeshire, is an exciting, state-of-the-art facility crafted by the Clark and Kent Contractors. This expertly designed track is a thrilling destination for riders of all ages and abilities, with every contour and curve tailored to provide a fun and challenging experience.

The pump track is a BMX-style community pump track being developed in West End Park, close to the town centre and the River Nene. It is designed as a free-to-use facility for bikes, skateboards, scooters, roller skates and wheelchairs, aimed at riders of all ages and abilities.

Located in the heart of March, this pump track is a community hub, inviting both seasoned bikers and newcomers to test their skills, build confidence, and enjoy a dynamic environment that fosters a sense of adventure and camaraderie.

The track embodies the highest standards of quality and innovation. The layout incorporates a series of smooth rollers, sculpted berms, and exhilarating jumps, allowing riders to navigate the course by pumping – or generating momentum through body movement alone – without pedalling. This unique design encourages skill development while providing a low-impact workout that strengthens core muscles, balance, and coordination.

The design ensures a continuous flow, offering seamless transitions between sections to maximise both speed and control. Riders can enjoy the track individually or with friends, making it an ideal destination for family outings, training sessions, or simply a thrilling ride in a supportive community atmosphere.

The track is located within West End Park in March, a large riverside park on the west side of the town. West End Park itself sits just south of the town’s main riverside area and is signposted locally, with pedestrian access from the riverside paths and nearby residential streets.

The project cost is around £100,000, funded in roughly equal parts by Mick George and the Youth Investment Fund, secured with support from Cambridgeshire County Council. Once completed, the track will be managed by Fenland District Council as a free public facility within West End Park.

The scheme grew out of “The Wheelz Project”, a local community group that campaigned for several years for a modern riding facility in March and helped shape the design. The track is also intended to deliver wider benefits such as youth engagement, physical activity, skill development and a community gathering space around bikes and other wheeled sports.

Open year-round, this new addition to March's recreational offerings reflects the community's dedication to promoting active lifestyles and providing residents with a unique opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
