Building a backyard BMX skills track always has been a dream of ours here at Clark & Kent Contractors.
The pump track we designed, constructed and maintained has dirt jumps, pump tracks and typical BMX obstacles for the enjoyment of riders of all ages and skill levels.
It was in the winter of 2011 that we decided to formalise our dream and create a backyard skills area for BMX riders and motocross bikers.
Having gained years of experience in the BMX track design and building and long-time fans of MTB trails, we decided to create a unique design that would make the best use of the existing space.
We have always been lovers of the steep berms and the technically demanding rhythm sections that are typically found on many European BMX tracks.
We have also always enjoyed riding and building the Pro sections and typical dirt jumps and trails for our many customers.
We decided to combine these key areas and incorporate them into the brief as well as throwing in a few combinations and an inner loop just to add to the fun.
Our dream was to build a BMX skills track that we felt would be accessible to all levels of rider and yet provide a demanding test of any rider's BMX skills.
We are confident that the BMX pump track we have built will push and develop the skill set of all types of rider but especially those that have reached an expert level.
All this, coupled with our love of expanding and changing various areas of the facility, means that the project gave us a fantastic opportunity to refine and develop our construction techniques.
The experience has also helped us to design, experiment and trial new jump models within the sport.
As a private project, this was carried out within a secure environment, and the skills track has given enormous scope to progress and enjoy the sport of BMX bike racing.
We have many friends in the BMX world. It has resulted in our BMX skills area being used by many world-class athletes from all over the globe. Some of the riders who have tested out our skills pump track are:
