Llandeilo Pump Track

Clark and Kent Contractors embarked on a challenging yet rewarding project to construct a pump track in Llandeilo, Wales. Despite facing freezing conditions, our team persevered to create what would become one of our favourite tracks to date.

Despite chilly temperatures, the team at Clark and Kent remained undeterred, implementing creative solutions to overcome obstacles and deliver a high-quality pump track. Our team adjusted construction schedules and techniques to mitigate the impact of freezing conditions, working diligently to maintain progress.

The goal was to design and build a pump track that would provide thrilling riding experiences and become a community focal point in Llandeilo. Key objectives included:

Constructing a pump track suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels.
Adapting to challenging weather conditions to ensure project completion on schedule
Innovative features and design elements to enhance the rider experience.

The track was built at the town's Parc Le Conquet and designed to increase the number jumping on their bikes and honing their BMX skills. Sport Wales and the Welsh Government awarded Carmarthenshire Council and Llandeilo Town Council £37,000 towards the project. It was part of £3.1m in new capital funding to benefit many exciting projects in communities across Wales. A total of 30 projects received funding to boost BMX riding, boxing, netball and fencing.

The Llandeilo pump track is designed to be inclusive and adapted bikes and trikes for people with disabilities are available. E-bike charging is also on hand.Digital monitoring assesses footfall, while digital screens promote local visitor attractions. Councils were confident of high demand for BMX facilities after they installed a mobile pump track in 2021 to coincide with Llandeilo hosting Stage Three of the Tour of Britain.

Llandeilo pump track is now a much-used recreational facility for residents and visitors alike, providing hours of enjoyment and entertainment for riders of all ages. Despite construction challenges in freezing conditions, the track was completed on schedule and to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Llandeilo is a town in Carmarthenshire, Wales, situated at the crossing of the River Towy near the Brecon Beacons National Park. In 2021, The Sunday Times newspaper named the town one of the top six places to live in Wales and praised Llandeilo as a 'sophisticated shopping destination and a great showcase for local arts and crafts'.
