The mountain bike trail is designed and built to accommodate the needs of primary school pupils while, at the same time, providing an accessible and progressive cycle trail for skilled top-end mountain bike users.
The design brief was to develop a mountain bike trail that could cater to the needs of all levels of cyclists. The free-flowing organic trail combines green, blue and red-grade sections built to meet the strict demands of British Cycling trail guidelines.
The trail-building project was completed in two weeks, and the trail is a great additional asset to the Outdoor Education Centre at the Shugborough Estate. The track is 350 metres long and includes woodland sections, rock gardens, open-flowing trail-style corners, various jumps, and obstacles to suit all abilities of bike riders.
The Shugborough Outdoor Education Centre is located in the heart of the Shugborough Estate on Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. Approved as a British Cycling Accredited Mountain Bike Leadership Centre, Shugborough Outdoor Education Centre boasts an impressive array of outdoor activities. The centre runs specialist courses such as GCSE mountain biking or Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Staffordshire County Council commissioned the building of a new MTB trail on behalf of the National Trust. We were only too happy to create what has been an engaging and progressive facility for Shugborough, and we look forward to riding there again soon.
