Adam Lee Pump Track , Malvern

Clark & Kent Contractors are proud to have delivered the Adam Lee Pump Track in Malvern, Worcestershire a high-quality tarmac pump track designed to promote active outdoor recreation for all ages and skill levels.
Named in memory of a much-loved resident and community figure, the Adam Lee pump track has quickly become a vibrant hub for wheeled sports in the area, supporting BMX, scooters, skateboards, and inline skates in a safe and accessible space.
This build showcases our specialist experience in UK pump track construction, delivering a fully bespoke solution that blends thoughtful design, precision construction, and long-term durability.

Setting and design

Set within a green open space, the layout is designed to complement the landscape and enhance community access without dominating the surroundings. The project received strong backing from local stakeholders and has already made a meaningful impact since opening.
The track was designed with both beginner and experienced riders in mind. The flowing layout includes a sequence of rollers, banked turns, and progressive rhythm features that encourage speed, balance, and coordination without the need for pedalling.
As with all our projects, tarmac surfacing was chosen for its all-weather performance, smooth ride quality, and long-term resilience. The surface finish supports safe use year-round, with minimal maintenance required.
The attention to design detail ensures that the track is not only fun and challenging but also welcoming to younger riders and families looking for inclusive, healthy activities.

Community concerns

The Adam Lee Pump Track stands as a tribute to local passion and community spirit. It offers a free-to-use facility where children, teens, and adults can ride, connect, and stay active in a supportive environment. The track has quickly become one of the most popular features in the area, with strong attendance from local schools, youth groups, and weekend visitors.
The pump track, located at the Adam Lee Playground, was officially opened in a ceremony led by Cllr Marilyn Birks, the Mayor of Malvern. The project was seven years in the making, involving collaboration between Malvern Town Council and local cycling groups. It is part of a broader town council initiative aimed at enhancing outdoor facilities and promoting sustainable recreation.

Lasting legacy

Adam Lee was a local boy whose life was tragically cut short at a young age. The Playground and Pump Track were dedicated in his memory to celebrate his life and provide a community recreational space for children and young people as part of a community initiative involving Adam’s family, friends, and residents. The project was commissioned by Malvern Town Council, following a proposal by local cyclist Ed Moseley, who petitioned for a proper riding facility after a previous informal track was lost to housing development.

Construction challenges

The construction of the track posed several logistical and technical challenges for both Clark and Kent Contractors and Malvern Town Council. The main challenge was the site's limited size and uneven nature, which required significant groundwork to create a stable foundation for the pump track’s continuous loop of berms and rollers. The area needed careful grading to ensure smooth drainage and long-term structural integrity, especially given the sloping terrain.
Obtaining and preparing the site itself took years of planning from concept to completion, requiring repeated planning consultations and environmental reviews. Clark and Kent also had to balance technical demands with community input from local riders who adjusted the design to be safe yet challenging for multiple rider types—bikes, scooters, and skateboards—demanding precise shaping of features to suit different skill levels.
