Clark & Kent Contractors were approached by the Centre Mondial de Cyclisme (CMC) to carry out changes to the existing BMX Supercross (SX) track at the World Cycling Centre at Aigle in Switzerland.
The track was given a complete stone sub-base, and a resurface and reshape. Clark & Kent worked with and took feedback on the project from the CMC BMX team, and it turned out to be a great success.
Since then, Clark & Kent have worked alongside the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) on several projects and are also hoping to work with the CMC team again.
The UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) houses the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) headquarters and acts as an elite coaching and training centre.
Opened in 2002, the centre attracts many athletes from around the world. It offers training and development facilities for three cycling disciplines, road cycling, track cycling, and BMX riding up to Olympic level.
The Centre regularly runs programmes organised by national federations, and its multi-sports facilities welcome elite sportsmen and women in a wide variety of disciplines.
Athletes belonging to the Swiss Athletics' track and field and gymnasts of the Swiss Gymnastics Federation train at the centre just about every day.
The WCC has just about everything an athlete needs for advanced training programmes.
The international standard 400-metre BMX Supercross track has two start ramps of eight and five metres height and a training level pump track.
The centre also boasts a 200-metre wooden indoor track, a 250-metre synthetic athletics track, gymnastics and trampoline hall, multi-purpose infield area, and a 500metre running track.
As a conference centre, the WCC facility also has a 120-seat restaurant, conference rooms and classrooms.
Although it mainly concentrates on elite training, the WCC also makes its facilities available to local sports enthusiasts and the general public.
Introductory sessions are open to everyone and young BMX riders can experience the thrill of riding championship circuits in the velodrome and on the BMX track.
