Clark & Kent Contractors were approached by the National Cycling Centre and British Cycling (BC) shortly after the new Indoor BMX Centre opened.
The BMX Supercross (SX) track was remodelled with some subtle changes along with a rebuild of the last straight.
A fresh limestone surface was used along the whole track as well as with new layers of tarmac on all three bends to bring them up to international level.
The upgrade was essential as this is the flagship Supercross (SX) track for British Cycling, and used as the focal point of the BC BMX squad and where the riders train on a daily basis.
Once the track was smoothed and completed, Soiltac was then applied to seal the surface and minimise any future maintenance.
The project is an ongoing success, and the facility and track held the first round of the UCI BMX Supercross (SX) series in early 2013.
Work on the BMX track was completed by Clark & Kent in November 2011, and British Cycling and the NCC were both delighted with the completed works.
The BMX Track first opened its doors in August 2011 as a venue for all riders including those new to the sport up to world class BMX athletes.
The amateur BMX track is of an international standard, with a five-metre start hill that runs into a demanding range of jump configurations.
The elite BMX track has an eight-metre start hill which drops into a technically diverse and demanding layout that challenges even the most experienced riders.
The Manchester BMX Track helps riders progress through the sport of BMX racing from novice to elite no matter what their current ability.
