Upton Lane in Shrewsbury is a small exciting single rider BMX Pump Track that is ideal for recreational or training purposes.
The track was designed and built by Clark & Kent Contractors for Shrewsbury and Atcham Council and has proved to be a valuable asset to an already established cycling city.
The track features four multi-level straights and can be ridden in a number of ways, which makes this a very versatile BMX facility.
The track is constructed with a typical stone sub-base with six millimetres of limestone dust for the surface.
In addition, the track also boasts a tarmacadam start ramp and return path so as to reduce maintenance for the circuit.
The site also has landscaped areas and turf that was applied to give an aesthetic and attractive finish.
Constructed in accordance with RoSPA safety guidelines for public open spaces, the BMX track offers an opportunity for local riders to hone and enhance their biking skills.
The track is 160 metres long and the straights are up to two metres wide to encourage skilful racing. The site has received plenty of positive publicity and featured in the well-known Dirt Mountain Bike magazine.
