Nostell Priory MTB Trail, Wakefield

When the National Trust was looking to implement mountain bike trails for all abilities at a number of their UK properties, Clark & Kent Contractors won the bid to create a mountain bike trail at Nostell Priory, near Wakefield.

Clark & Kent was selected for its professionalism and background in working with prestigious clients on sensitive projects that require particular consideration given to the impact on the surrounding areas and landscape.

The Nostell Priory bike trail project involved consultancy, trail marking, trail design and construction. Nostell Priory is a period Robert Burns property which is a fitting backdrop to what became a fantastically received finished product.

Clark & Kent started trail construction in October 2016, and works took around 12 weeks on two separate trails. Work involved sensitive and selective tree works, trail clearance, importation of materials, formation of materials and compaction. It also included the widening and resurfacing around one kilometre of shared-use paths. A landscape scheme was implemented to ensure minimal disruption at the site and enabled quick recovery times for surrounding areas.

The National Trust's expectations were surpassed with the finished mountain bike trail, and the scheme was rolled out in summer 2017 to success. The project was delivered on time and under budget, and Clark & Kent looks forward to working on future projects.

Other MTB trials constructed by Clark & Kent:
Conlig, Dalby Forest, Relentless NASS, Shugborough.
